About us

The Dwight L. Smith Lodge of Research is a special purpose Masonic lodge under Dispensation, created by the Grand Lodge F&AM of Indiana for the purpose of furthering research and interest in the history, customs, and societal impact of the Masonic Fraternity. Our mandate is to study these areas from a worldwide perspective, but with a particular emphasis on how they have impacted the lives of Masons, their families, and the general public in the State of Indiana.

Our meetings are normally held in the South Lodge Room of the 5th floor of the Indianapolis Masonic Temple at 525 N. Illinois Street in Indianapolis, Indiana. All Masons who are regular, recognized members of Indiana Masonic lodges, or from jurisdictions in amity with the Grand Lodge F&AM of Indiana, are welcome to attend our meetings. Our stated meetings are traditionally held in January following Founders Day, and May following the annual communication of the Grand Lodge of Indiana, with additional meetings convened throughout the state as desired by the members.
